Stormguard Secondary glazing film (Window kit)
An economical alternative to double glazed windows. The kit comes with a large piece of shrink wrap (looks similar to cling/glad) but will shrink a little when heat is applied and also a roll of double sided tape for sticking to the frames around the window.
Ideally there is around a 10mm gap between the frame and the glass in order to create enough of an air pocket. This will help minimise heat loss from inside the house and the draught coming in from outside...having this thermal layer is also a good way to minimise condensation build up on the windows.
There is no reason to take them down once installed and should last a couple of years minimum. Be careful on northfacing windows to not apply too much heat as they may shrink/tighten a little in Summer
